RECONNECT TO THE MEDICINE WITHIN.
Amaya Inner Journey is a transformational weekend of ceremony with sacred earth medicine, sound healing, guided meditation, yoga and plant-based nourishment all set in the beautiful Columbia Valley near Cultus Lake, BC.
“Pachamama: Shamanic Women’s Retreat” was created to bring women together to connect with the bounty and blessings received from our Mother Earth. Pachamama is the revered Earth Mother Goddess of the indigenous peoples of the Andes and is the source of life. Through coming together in ceremony to honour Pachamama, we can receive guidance in the art of giving and receiving which can balance many aspects of our lives as women. In sacred circle, we can use the medicine and earthly support of our mother to heal and nourish where it is needed within our lives.
Through despacho we will infuse our prayers to our scared bundle and then offer them to Mother Earth the following day in a water ceremony. We will receive wisdom and guidance through the plant world as we use the medicine of Bobinsana to guide us into our hearts. Sound healing, sacred song, shamanic journeying, guided meditation and yoga will also be used to connect, create and transform.
DESPACHO
The Despacho is a gift to spirit, or the organizing principles of the Universe, and is a ritual of energetic exchange for healing, re-establishing right relationship and protection. The Laika (high shamans or wisdomkeepers of the Q’ero lineage of Peru) have used the despacho ceremony for a wide variety of occasions – births, deaths, as an expression of gratitude, to heal physical and emotional ailments, to restore balance and harmony, or when there is a specific request of the spirit world.
Similar to a mandala or sacred creation, the despacho or prayer bundle holds symbolic elements and the prayers of the participants. These can come in the form of natural items such as flowers, sweets, leaves, beans, grains, incense, feathers or salt. As the elements are added to the despacho, the vibration of the participants and the room raises. Our sacred bundle becomes a living prayer that brings energy shifts and healing.
BOBINSANA MEDICINE
Bobinsana (Calliandra angustifolia) is known as a gentle master plant and teacher of self-love and self-compassion. The plant is used to teach empathy, for addressing heartbreak, grief and loss, and to deepen connection to nature. The plant can invoke lucid dreaming experiences.
Bobinsana is traditionally served as a tea made from the roots and branches of this shrubby tree with beautiful pink flowers, which are found along rivers and streams in the Amazon basin and in the eastern Andes Mountains. Besides its spiritual uses, the Shipibo indigenous tribe of the Peruvian Amazon also use the plant to purify blood and to treat inflammation, rheumatism, arthritis, bone pain, fevers, and colds.
Bobinsana is very soft and gentle, not a psychoactive plant and will be used in ceremony to open our hearts to receive the wisdom of the plant, connecting deep with the guidance of the earth. It is very soft and gentle and is often said to create a soft opening within the heart centre. You may feel emotional passageways open up after drinking bobinsana.

Tania Edwards
Tania's inner journey began over a decade ago with a daily yoga and meditation practice. She spent 4 years in Japan where she practiced and studied traditional Zen Buddhist meditation.
Diving deep into studies of Ayurveda, an ancient Indian healing system, was a complement to her yoga practice and after experiencing Ayurveda's power to heal she was dedicated to meditation and plant medicines being the first steps in healing.
Throughout Tania’s time teaching Yoga and Ayurveda she continued her meditation and mindfulness studies with buddhist teacher Michael Stone. The essence of Michael’s teachings is often felt in the way she holds space for others. Continuing along the path of student, Tania has deepened her studies in Ayurveda with Melanie "Madhuri" Phillips, studied Ayurvedic Head Massage with Bliss Prema, Tibetan Dream Yoga with Andrew Holecek and Shamanic Journeying with Sandra Ingerman.
Tania has experience in holding sacred space for women through co-founding Hearts of Indra, organizing circles and a retreat for women to come together to listen, speak, sing, heal and transform.
Upon co-founding Amaya Inner Journey Centre, Tania wishes through meditation and sacred ceremony to help people awaken to their true purpose as a collective being.
